What is emulation


Emulation is the process of copying the behavior of one computer system (or software) on another system, typically with different hardware or software.
In simpler and game terms,it allows you to play games designed for consoles, arcade machines, or handheld devices on a different platform, such as a PC or smartphone
Emulators recreate the workings of the original console’s CPU, graphics chip, memory, and input devices. This is no small feat, as consoles often have specialised hardware and unique operating systems.
There is many diffrent emulators for diffrent consoles. There is also emulators with multi console suport.
The most well known is a software named RetroArch. Logo here
RetroArch is a free and open-source, cross-platform frontend for emulators, game engines, video games, media players and other applications. It is the reference implementation of the libretro API it is designed to be fast, lightweight, portable and without dependencies A front end is a ui for multable emulators to open in one place
Retro arch has a system called Cores
These cores are emulators that can be installed into retroarch and then used.
